Choose the right laminate flooring to fit your usage

In addition to the beautiful patterns of laminate flooring that you need to choose, another factor users should consider when purchasing flooring is "where will the flooring be used?" For example, will it be used in a home, bedroom, coffee shop, store, hotel, restaurant, classroom, or other places?
So, how are these places different? The difference lies in the "traffic level." In a bedroom, there might not be much foot traffic—just the owner entering the room. However, in a store, many people walk in and out daily, resulting in a higher traffic level compared to other places.
The AC (Abrasion Class) value helps us choose laminate flooring that suits the intended use because the AC value indicates the durability of the laminate flooring. It ranges from the lowest, AC1 Class 21, to the highest, AC6 Class 34.

For example:
AC1 is sufficient for use in a bedroom.
AC3 is suitable for all areas within a home, including office meeting rooms.
AC4 is ideal for offices, small stores, classrooms, or hotel rooms.
Who determines the AC value? The AC value is set by the EPLF (European Laminate Flooring Producers Association) and is used as one of the standards for assessing the quality of laminate flooring. These values are determined by testing the durability of the laminate surface against scratches. This is done by rotating sandpaper in a circular motion on the laminate flooring to see when scratches appear on the surface.
The test results are as follows:
AC1 Class 21: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 900 rotations.
AC2 Class 22: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 1,500 rotations.
AC3 Class 23: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 2,000 rotations.
AC3 Class 31: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 3,000 rotations.
AC4 Class 32: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 4,000 rotations.
AC5 Class 33: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 6,000 rotations.
AC6 Class 34: The flooring must show no scratches after at least 8,500 rotations.
You can ask about the AC value of laminate flooring from the salesperson, or some brands include it on the product packaging.
ZURFACE laminate flooring has an AC3 Class 31 rating, withstanding scratches for over 3,000 rotations. Even better, Robina laminate flooring/ Ufloor has an AC4 rating, capable of enduring scratches up to 5,800 rotations!
